Introduction

We had an overwhelming response to the competition, so a massive thanks to everybody who took part! Entries used Pusher in a number of ways including simple notifications, realtime analytics, live blogging, realtime geographic information sharing, chat and commenting, social media data integration, mobile and web app interaction, and gaming. There were some really great entries and it was very hard to make a decision on a winner.

Our theme for this competition was improving user-experiences by layering on realtime engaging functionality. So our winner is the application that demonstrated the biggest improvement by adding some realtime awesomeness to their app.

… and the winner is… Freedcamp!

We really like the way Freedcamp (a superb Project Management app) becomes so much more engaging by adding a simple realtime layer. The notifications inform you of new information and are a good way of starting conversations. Tasks can be added and then refined though realtime discussion. We especially like the use of presence to show who’s online, so you know who currently active within a particular project.

Congratulations guys! A 11″ MacBook Air and a ticket to the Keeping it Realtime Conference are on their way to you.

Honourable mentions

We were very impressed with all of the entries, and in particular there were two which really stood out.

The Pusher powered-robot!

Kevin’s amazing Arduino robot lets you control it from your iPhone using Pusher. Check a video of it in action here and real the full blog post about it here.

Onstage by Mailchimp

The Mailchimp Labs team have done a spectacular job of using Pusher to let designers collaborate on email templates in realtime with their clients. You can find out more about it in this blog post

For the rest – your super-duper Pusher T-Shirts will be on the way very soon. In the meantime, everyone keep your eyes peeled for the next Pusher Challenge!
