Pusher & Guag.es

True Realtime Web Analytics

Pusher made Gauges Live a reality within only a few hours.

How are you using Pusher?

We are always looking for ways to push the limits. Making Gaug.es completely live seemed like a great challenge and a really useful feature.

For now, we only use Pusher for sending notifications on each track request. That said, over 90% of our traffic is track requests, so we send our fair share of notifications.

We pulse a subtle indicator image to show that one of your sites received a hit. We also increment the hit everywhere it is appropriate, such as Views and People, Search, GeoLocation, etc.

The coolest use of Pusher is our full screen map, AirTraffic. AirTraffic shows all views across all of your sites on one full screen map. It is a great screen to put up on a big monitor in your office.

How has Pusher improved the experience for your users?

We have heard more than a few stories from people sending out email campaigns or getting an article on TechCrunch and how fun it was to see it all happen live.

Beyond being neat, I fully believe that making Gaug.es live improves the experience for users. There are a lot of times where knowing what is going on right now and immediately being able to react is extremely valuable.

Why did you go for Pusher?

We, as a company, have a lot of history building real-time apps, mostly using crazy customized jabber stuff.

We went with Pusher because it is so simple and solid. In only a few hours we had Gaug.es updating live, and most of that time was working through issues in our app. Pusher just works.
