Adding a new dimension to Project Management
Freedcamp uses realtime interaction and collaboration to add a new dimension to project management.
Freedcamp was launched in January 2011, attracting users as the first totally free online project management platform. The platform provides all the important features project owners and members need, such as milestones, to-do lists, time tracking and file storage, and is used by more than 60,000 professionals worldwide.
When they launched version 2 in April this year, they wanted to gain an even bigger advantage over their competitors with a focus on real-time collaboration. Version 2 was launched with Pusher-powered realtime functionality, which greatly improved the existing features by adding an engaging user experience to the application.
By using Pusher Freedcamp can now make sure that when somebody makes a change in a project, other members are notified instantly (Push Notifications). Each user is subscribed to different projects, and notifications can be sent to projects, groups and individual members. Users are now able to see who's online (Presence) and the platform also has a Wall feature (Activity Streams) that relies on Pusher, where users can collaborate real-time, provide instant updates and comment on feeds (Collaboration).
The feedback from Freedcamps users is very positive and shows that a free platform allows people to experiment and use it for various tasks, for both business purposes and personal use.
“A co-worker introduced me to Freedcamp which I've been using ever since to manage my personal projects - I am loving your software.” - Christopher Morgan, A FreedCamp user
Freedcamp was the winner of the Pusher Challenge that was held in October, for significantly improving the user experience of their application with the real-time features made possible with Pusher - read the blog post about the Pusher Challenge winner and other impressive entries here.
Freedcamp is improving their platform even more, and CTO Terence Pae says "Within the next 2 months, our application will be fully instant, utilizing Pusher. Which means users will be able to track changes in real-time, chat, voice chat, and more."
Our integration with Pusher has helped our users to collaborate faster, more efficiently, and added social interaction to project management. We feel that by integrating Pusher into Freedcamp, we've gained an advantage over our competitors” - Terence Pae, CTO at Freedcamp.
